{1 And he called his twelve disciples to him, and he gave them authority of unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal every disease and every malady.} 5 These twelve Jesus sent out,* having commanded them, saying:* Do not go away into the road of gentiles, and do not go into a city of Samaritans. 6 But journey rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 But while you are journeying preach and say that the kingdom of the heavens has come near. 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received; freely give. 9 Do not acquire gold, nor silver coinage,* nor copper* for your belts,* 10 nor a bag* for the road,* nor two tunics, nor shoes, nor a staff.* For the worker is worthy of his food. 11 But, whatever city or village you go into, ask who is worthy in it, and remain there until you go out. 12 And as you go into the house greet it. 13 And, if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But, if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And, whoever does not receive you or hear your words, go out of that house or that city and shake the dust from your feet. 15 Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of the Sodomites and Gomorrahites on the day of judgment than for that city. 16 Behold, I send you away as sheep in the midst of wolves. Become therefore as crafty as snakes and as innocent as doves. |
7 And he calls the twelve to him and began to send them out* two by two, and gave them authority of the unclean spirits. 8 And he commanded them to take nothing for the road* except a staff* only, not bread, nor a bag, nor copper* for the belt,* 9 but to wear sandals and not to wear two tunics. 10 And he said* to them:* Wherever you go into a house, remain there until you go out thence. 11 And, whatever place does not receive you or hear you, journey thence and shake the dirt from upon your feet as a testimony to them. 12 And they went out and were preaching that they should repent, 13 and casting out many demons, and smearing many who were ill, and healing them. |
1 But he called the twelve together, and he gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. 2 And he sent them out* to preach the kingdom of God and cure the sick 3 And he said:* toward them: Take nothing for the road,* neither a staff,* nor a bag, nor bread nor silver,* nor to have two tunics. 4 And, whatever house you go into, remain there and go out thence. 5 And, as many as do not receive you, go out away from that city and shake the dust away from your feet as a testimony upon them. 6 But they went out and went evangelizing through the villages and healing everywhere. |

{12b ...and when they came they announced it to Jesus.*} 13 But when Jesus heard he removed thence in a boat unto a deserted place in private. And when they heard the crowds followed him on foot from the cities. 14a And he went out and saw a great crowd, and he had compassion upon them.... {9.36b ...because they were oppressed and thrown down as sheep that do not have a shepherd.} 14b ...and he healed those of them who were ill. |
30 And the apostles gathered unto Jesus* and they announced to him everything, as many things as they had done and as many things as they had taught. 31 And he said to them: You yourselves withdraw in private to a deserted place and rest a little. For there were many coming and going, and they had no opportunity to eat. 32 And he went away in the boat unto a deserted place in private. 33 And they saw them going and many recognized them. And they ran together on foot from all the cities and went there before them. 34 And he went out and saw a great crowd, and he had compassion upon them because they were as sheep that do not have a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things. |
10 And when the apostles returned they narrated to him as many things as they had done. And having taken them along he moved out in private unto a city called Bethsaida. 11 But the crowds, when they knew it, followed him. and he received them, and he spoke to them about the kingdom of God and cured those who had need of healings. |

1 But after these things the Lord appointed
seventy-two others, and he sent them out two by two
before his face into every city and place to which he himself was going
to come.
2 But he
said toward them: The harvest is great,
but the workers few. Request of the Lord of the harvest therefore that he might cast
out workers into his harvest.
3 Get on. Behold,
I send you away as lambs in the midst of
wolves.
4 Do not carry a moneybelt, nor a bag,
nor shoes, and greet no one along the
road.
5 But, whatever
house you go into, say first:
Peace to this house. 6 And if
there is a son of peace
there, your peace shall rest
upon him. But, if
not, it shall come back upon you.
7 But remain in that very house, eating and
drinking the things from them, For the worker is worthy of
his wage. Do not keep
moving from house to house.
8 And, whatever city you go into and they
receive you, eat the things placed before you,
9 and heal those in it who are sick, and
say to them: The kingdom of God has come
near to you.
10 But, whatever city you go into and they
do not receive you, go out into its streets and say:
11 Even the dust from your city which
clings to our feet we wipe off against you. But know this, that the kingdom of God
has come near.
12 I say to you
that it will be more tolerable for the Sodomites
on that day than
for that city.
