1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the rumor of Jesus, 2 and said to his servants: This is John the baptist. He himself has been raised from the dead, and it is on this account that powers are at work in him. |
14 And Herod the king heard it, for his name had become apparent, and was saying that John the baptizer had been raised from the dead, and it is on this account that powers are at work in him. 15 But others were saying that he was Elijah; and others that he was a prophet like one of the prophets. 16 But Herod heard and was saying: John, whom I beheaded, this man has been raised. |
7 But Herod the tetrarch heard all that had happened, and he was perplexed on account that it was being said by some that John had been raised from the dead, 8 but by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that a prophet, one of the ancients, had resurrected. 9 But Herod said: John I beheaded; but who is this man concerning whom I am hearing such things? And he sought to see him. |
