17 But beware of men. For they will deliver you unto councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you. 18 But they will lead* you before both rulers and kings for my sake as a testimony to them and to the nations. 19 But when they deliver you up do not meditate on how or what you will say. For it will be given you in that hour what you should speak. 20 For it is not you speaking but the spirit of your father that is speaking in you. 21 But brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child, and children will stand up against parents* and will put them to death. 22 And you will be hated by all on account of my name. But he who endures to the end, this man will be saved. 23 But, when they persecute you in this city, flee to the other; for amen, I say to you, you will not complete the cities of Israel until the son of man comes. 24 A disciple is not over his teacher, nor a servant over his lord. 25 It suffices for the disciple to become as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they called the housemaster Beelzebul, how much more his housemembers. |
9 But look to yourselves. They will deliver you unto councils and in synagogues you will be flogged, and you will stand before rulers and kings for my sake. as a testimony to them. 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 11 And when they lead* and deliver you up do not premeditate what you will say, but, whatever is given you in that hour, speak this, for it is not you speaking but the holy spirit. 12 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child, and children will stand up against parents* and will put them to death. 13 And you will be hated by all on account of my name. But he who endures to the end, this man will be saved. |
12 But before all these things they will cast their hands upon you and persecute you, delivering [you] unto the synagogues and prisons, being led* before kings and rulers for the sake of my name. 13 It will be as a testimony for you. 14 Set therefore in your hearts not to prepare to defend yourselves, 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all those against you will not be able to withstand or resist. 16 But you will be delivered up even by parents* and brothers and kinsmen and friends, and they will put some from among you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all on account of my name. 18 And not a hair from your head will be destroyed. 19 By your endurance you will gain your souls. {6.40 A disciple is not over his teacher, But everyone, once fully trained, will be as his teacher.} |

9 Then they will deliver you
unto tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations
on account of my name.
10 And then many will be
scandalized and will deliver each other up and hate each other.
11 And many false prophets

11 But, when they bear you to the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not meditate on how or what you will speak in defense or what you should say. 12 For the holy spirit will give you what you must say in this hour.
