Otherwise, he will rip the new, and also the patch from the new does not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old skins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be poured out, and the skins perish; 38 but rather new wine must be put into new skins. 39 And no one drinking old wishes for new, for he says: The old is fine. |

25 Therefore there came about a seeking out
from among the disciples of John with a Jew concercing purification.
26 And they came toward John and said to him:
Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you have testified,
behold, he is baptizing and all are coming toward him.
27 John answered and said: A man cannot
take even one thing except it be given to him from heaven.
28 You yourselves testify to me that I said:
I am not the Christ, but rather: I am sent before him.
29 He who has the bride
is a bridegroom; but the friend
of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him,
rejoices with joy on account of the voice of the bridegroom. Therefore
this joy of mine has been fulfilled.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He who comes from above is over all things;
he who is from the earth is from the earth and speaks from the earth; he who
comes from heaven is above all things.
32 What he has seen and heard, this he testifies,
and no one receives his testimony.
33 He who has received his testimony sealed that
God is true.
34 For he whom God sent speaks the words of God,
for he gives the spirit without measure.
35 The father loves the son, and he has given
all things in his hand.
36 He who has faith in the son has eternal life;
but he who disobeys the son shall not see life, but rather the wrath of God
remains upon him.
