§ The contents of Luke 4.15 find a parallel in Matthew 4.23 = Mark 1.39. I have, however, coded Luke 4.15 as purely Lucan in my synopsis because Luke 4.44 also parallels Matthew 4.23 = Mark 1.39, and belongs to the same pericope. An outdated version of this synopsis in which the cross-parallels are laid out is available.

§ I note the following agreements between Matthew and Luke against Mark:

1. Matthew 4.23a and Luke 4.15 are not actually parallel in position, but the former is roughly parallel to Mark 1.39a, which has κηρυσσων εις τας συναγωγας (preaching into the synagogues). Matthew, however, has διδασκων εν ταις συναγωγαις (teaching in the synagogues), while Luke has εδιδασκεν εν ταις συναγωγαις (taught in the synagogues).
2. Matthew 4.13 and Luke 4.16 agree in using the relatively rare name Ναζαρα (Nazara) for Nazareth. Mark 1.14-15 lacks this name.

This second example is one of my major agreements.

§ The phrase απο τοτε ηρξατο (from then he began) in Matthew 4.17 is a formula repeated in Matthew 16.21. The phrase ηγγικεν η βασιλεια των ουρανων (the kingdom of the heavens has come near) in Matthew 4.17 = Mark 1.15 is a repeated and transposed formula which occurs also in Matthew 3.2; Matthew 10.7 = Luke 10.9, 11.

§ From Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho 51.2, writing of Jesus:

...και ευηγγελιζετο, και αυτος λεγων οτι εγγυς εστιν η βασιλεια των ουρανων....

...and he evangelized, even saying himself that the kingdom of the heavens was near....
