6 But, whoever scandalizes one* of these little ones* who have faith in me, it is better for him that a muledrawn millstone be hung from around his neck and he be drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of scandals. For it is necessary that scandals* come,* except woe* to* the man through whom* the scandal comes.* 8 But, if your hand or your foot scandalizes you, cut it off and cast it away from you. It is better for you to go into life maimed* or lame than to have two hands* or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. 9 And if your eye scandalizes you, take it out and cast it away from you; it is better for you to go into life one-eyed than to have two eyes and be cast into the gehenna of fire. 10 See lest you despise one of these little ones; for I say to you that through it all their angels in the heavens look upon the face of my father who is in heaven. |
42 And, whoever scandalizes one* of these little ones* who have faith in me, it is good for him rather that a muledrawn millstone be placed around his neck and he be cast into the sea. 43 And, if your hand scandalizes you, cut it away; it is better for you to go into life maimed* than to have two hands* and go into gehenna, into the unquenchable fire, 44 where their worm does not come to an end and the fire is not extinguished. 45 And if your foot scandalizes you, cut it away. It is better for you to go into life lame than to have two feet and be cast into gehenna, 46 where their worm does not come to an end and the fire is not extinguished. 47 And if your eye scandalizes you, cast it out from you; it is better for you to go into the kingdom of God one-eyed than to have two eyes and be cast into gehenna, 48 where their worm does not come to an end and the fire is not extinguished. |
1 And he said toward his disciples: It is impossible that scandals* should not come,* except woe* to* him through whom* they come.* 2 It is more advantageous for him that a milling stone be placed around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than that he should scandalize one* of these little ones.* |
