1 And it happened that when Jesus finished all these words, he said to his disciples: 2 You know that after two days* the Passover* is coming, and the son of man is being delivered up to be crucified. 3 Then the high priests and the elders of the people gathered into the court of the high priest, called Caiaphas, 4 and they took counsel to seize Jesus by stealth and kill him. 5 But they said: Not in the feast, so that there might not be a rebellion amongst the people. [....] 14 Then one of the twelve,* the one named* Judas* Iscariot,* journeyed toward the high priests 15 and said: What are you willing to give me, and I deliver him up to you? But they weighed out thirty silver coins for him. 16 And from then on he sought a good season so as to deliver him up. |
1 And there was the Passover* and Unleavened Bread after two days.* And the high priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him in stealth and kill him. 2 For they said: Not in the feast, lest there be a rebellion of the people. [....] 10 And Judas* Iscariot,* who was one of the twelve,* went away toward the high priests in order to deliver him up to them. 11 But when they heard they rejoiced and promised to give him silver. And he sought how he might seasonably deliver him up. |
1 And the feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called Passover,* was near. 2 And the high priests and the scribes sought how they might slay him, For they feared the people. 3 But Satan went into Judas,* the one called* Iscariot,* being from among the number of the twelve,* 4 and he went away and spoke with the high priests and officers about how he might deliver him up to them. 5 And they rejoiced and agreed to give him silver. 6 And he consented, and he sought a good season to deliver him up to them apart from the crowd. |

45 Many from among the Jews, therefore,
who came toward Mary and witnessed the things that he did, put faith in him.
46 But some from among them went away
toward the Pharisees and told them the things that Jesus had done.
47 The high priests
and the Pharisees, therefore, gathered
a sanhedrin, and they
said: What do we do, because this man is
doing many signs?
48 If we leave him thus, all will put
faith in him, and the Romans will come and take both our place and
our nation.
49 But a certain one from among them,
Caiaphas, who was high
priest that year, said to them: You do not know anything,
50 nor do you consider that it is better
for you that one man should die on behalf of the
people, and the whole nation not be abolished.
51 But he did not say this from himself,
but rather, being the high priest that year, he prophesied that
Jesus was about to die on behalf of the nation,
52 and not only on behalf of the nation
but rather in order that he might also gather the children of God
scattered abroad into one.
53 From that day,
therefore, they took
counsel to put him to death.

1 And before the feast of
the Passover Jesus, knowing that his
hour had come to transcend out of this world toward the father,
having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end.
2 And when it was supper, the devil
having already cast into the heart of Judas
of Simon Iscariot to
deliver him up,
3 he knew that the father had given all
things to him, into his hands, and that he had come away from God and
was getting back toward God,
4 and he arises from the supper and places
aside his clothes, and having taken a towel he girded himself.
5 Then he casts water into the washing
basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them
off with the towel with which he was girded.
6 He comes then toward Simon Peter.
He says to him: Lord, are you washing my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said to him:
What I do you do not now realize, but you will know after these things.
8 Peter says to him: You shall not
wash my feet ever until the age. Jesus answered him: If I do not
wash you, you have no part with me.
9 Simon Peter says to him: Lord, not only
my feet but also my hands and head.
10 Jesus says to him: The one who
has bathed has no need to wash anything except his feet, but the
whole is clean. And you are clean, but not all.
11 For he was aware of the one
delivering him
up; on account of this he said: You are not all clean.
12 When therefore he had washed their
feet and taken his clothes and reposed again, he said to them:
Do you know what I have done for you?
13 You call me teacher and Lord,
and well said, for I am.
14 If therefore I, as Lord and teacher,
washed your feet, you yourselves also ought to wash the feet of
each other.
15 For I gave you an example that,
just as I did for you, you also should do.
16 Amen, amen, I say to you,
a servant
is not greater than
his lord, nor
an apostle greater than the one who sent him.
17 If you realize these things,
you are blessed if you should do them.
18 I do not say this concerning all.
I am aware of the ones I have elected, but it is in order that
the scripture might be fulfilled: He who eats my bread has lifted
up his heel against me.
19 From now on I am saying it to you
before it happens, so that when it happens you might have faith that
I am he.
