13 Εἰσέλθατε
διὰ τῆς στενῆς πύλης, ὅτι πλατεῖα
ἡ πύλη καὶ εὐρύχωρος ἡ ὁδὸς
ἡ ἀπάγουσα εἰς τὴν ἀπώλειαν,
καὶ πολλοί εἰσιν
οἱ εἰσερχόμενοι δι᾿ αὐτῆς·
14 τί στενὴ ἡ πύλη καὶ
τεθλιμμένη ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἀπάγουσα
εἰς τὴν ζωήν, καὶ ὀλίγοι εἰσὶν
οἱ εὑρίσκοντες αὐτήν.
 
 
 
{7.22 Πολλοὶ ἐροῦσίν μοι
ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ· Κύριε,
κύριε, οὐ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι
 
 
ἐπροφητεύσαμεν, καὶ τῷ σῷ
ὀνόματι δαιμόνια ἐξεβάλομεν,
καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δυνάμεις
πολλὰς ἐποιήσαμεν;
7.23 καὶ τότε ὁμολογήσω αὐτοῖς
ὅτι, Οὐδέποτε ἔγνων ὑμᾶς·
ἀποχωρεῖτε ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ,

ὅτι πολλοὶ ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν
καὶ δυσμῶν ἥξουσιν
καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται μετὰ Ἀβραὰμ*
καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ*
ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν.
8.12 οἱ δὲ* υἱοὶ τῆς βασιλείας
ἐκβληθήσονται* εἰς τὸ σκότος
τὸ ἐξώτερον·*
ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς*
καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων.*}
 
{20.16 Οὕτως ἔσονται
οἱ ἔσχατοι πρῶτοι καὶ
οἱ πρῶτοι ἔσχατοι.}
23 Εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ·
Κύριε, εἰ ὀλίγοι οἱ σῳζόμενοι;
ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς·
24 Ἀγωνίζεσθε εἰσελθεῖν
διὰ τῆς στενῆς θύρας, ὅτι
 
 
πολλοί, λέγω ὑμῖν, ζητήσουσιν
εἰσελθεῖν
 
 
καὶ οὐκἰσχύσουσιν.
25 ἀφ᾿ οὗ ἂν ἐγερθῇ
ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης καὶ ἀποκλείσῃ
τὴν θύραν, καὶ ἄρξησθε ἔξω
ἑστάναι καὶ κρούειν τὴν θύραν,
λέγοντες·
Κύριε, ἄνοιξον ἡμῖν·
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ἐρεῖ ὑμῖν·
Οὐκ οἶδα ὑμᾶς πόθεν ἐστέ.
26 τότε ἄρξεσθε λέγειν·
Ἐφάγομεν ἐνώπιόν σου
καὶ ἐπίομεν, καὶ ἐν ταῖς
πλατείαις ἡμῶν ἐδίδαξας·
 
27 καὶ ἐρεῖ λέγων ὑμῖν·
Οὐκ οἶδα ὑμᾶς πόθεν ἐστέ·
ἀπόστητε ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ,
πάντες ἐργάται ἀδικίας. 28 ἐκεῖ ἔσται ὁ κλαυθμὸς*
καὶ ὁ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων,*
ὅταν ὄψησθε Ἀβραὰμ*
καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ*
καὶ πάντας τοὺς προφήτας
ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ,
ὑμᾶς δὲ* ἐκβαλλομένους* ἔξω.*
29 καὶ ἥξουσιν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν
καὶ δυσμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ βορρᾶ
καὶ νότου καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται

the narrow gate, because
wide is the gate and broad the road
which leads to destruction,
and there are many
who go in through it.
14 How narrow the gate and
hard-pressed the road which leads
to life, and there are few

23 And someone said to him:
Lord, is it only a few who are being
saved? And he said toward them:
24 Strive to go in through
the narrow door, because
 
 
many, I say to you, will seek
to go in
 
 
and will not be strong enough.
25 From the time when the
housemaster rises and closes the door,
and you begin to stand outside
and to knock on the door, saying:
Lord, open up to us,
he will answer and say to you:
I do not recognize you,
whence you are.
26 Then you will begin to say:
We ate and drank before you,
and you taught in our plazas.
 
 
 
27 And he will say
to you: I do not recognize you,
whence you are; stand away from me,
all workers of injustice.
28 There shall be weeping and*
gnashing of teeth there,*
when you see Abraham*
and Isaac and Jacob*
and all the prophets
in the kingdom of God,
but* you yourselves cast out.*
29 And they will come from east
and west and from north
and south and will recline
