¹ Καὶ μεθ᾿ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατ᾿ ἰδίαν. ² καὶ μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔλαμψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ὡς ὁ ἥλιος, τὰ δὲ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο* λευκὰ ὡς τὸ φῶς. ³ καὶ ἰδοὺ, ὤφθη αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ἠλίας συλλαλοῦντες* μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ.* ⁴ ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν τῷ Ἰησοῦ· Κύριε, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι· εἰ θέλεις, ποιήσω ὧδε τρεῖς σκηνάς, σοὶ μίαν καὶ Μωϋσεῖ μίαν καὶ Ἠλίᾳ μίαν. ⁵ ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἰδοὺ, νεφέλη φωτεινὴ ἐπεσκίασεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἰδοὺ, φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης, λέγουσα· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός, ἐν ᾧ εὐδόκησα· ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ. ⁶ καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἔπεσαν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν* σφόδρα. ⁷ καὶ προσῆλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἁψάμενος αὐτῶν εἶπεν· Ἐγέρθητε καὶ μὴ φοβεῖσθε. ⁸ ἐπάραντες δὲ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν οὐδένα εἶδον εἰ μὴ αὐτὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον. ⁹ καὶ καταβαινόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς, λέγων· Μηδενὶ* εἴπητε τὸ ὅραμα* ἕως οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγερθῇ. ¹⁰ καὶ ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ, λέγοντες· Τί οὖν οἱ γραμματεῖς λέγουσιν ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον; ¹¹ ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν· Ἠλίας μὲν ἔρχεται καὶ ἀποκαταστήσει πάντα· ¹² λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι Ἠλίας ἤδη ἦλθεν, καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνωσαν αὐτὸν, ἀλλὰ ἐποίησαν ἐν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἠθέλησαν· οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μέλλει πάσχειν ὑπ᾿ αὐτῶν. ¹³ τότε συνῆκαν οἱ μαθηταὶ ὅτι περὶ Ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς.	² Καὶ μετὰ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τὸν Ἰάκωβον καὶ τὸν Ἰωάννην, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν κατ᾿ ἰδίαν μόνους. καὶ μετεμορφώθη ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν, ³ καὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο* στίλβοντα, λευκὰ λίαν οἷα γναφεὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς οὐ δύναται οὕτως λευκᾶναι. ⁴ καὶ ὤφθη αὐτοῖς Ἠλίας σὺν Μωϋσεῖ, καὶ ἦσαν συλλαλοῦντες* τῷ* Ἰησοῦ. ⁵ καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Πέτρος λέγει τῷ Ἰησοῦ· Ῥαββί, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι, καὶ ποιήσωμεν τρεῖς σκηνάς, σοὶ μίαν καὶ Μωϋσεῖ μίαν καὶ Ἠλίᾳ μίαν. ⁶ οὐ γὰρ ᾔδει τί ἀποκριθῇ, ἔκφοβοι* γὰρ ἐγένοντο. ⁷ καὶ ἐγένετο νεφέλη ἐπισκιάζουσα αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐγένετο φωνὴ ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἀγαπητός· ἀκούετε αὐτοῦ. ⁸ καὶ ἐξάπινα περιβλεψάμενοι οὐκέτι οὐδένα εἶδον ἀλλὰ τὸν Ἰησοῦν μόνον μεθ᾿ ἑαυτῶν. ⁹ καὶ καταβαινόντων αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδενὶ* ἃ εἶδον* διηγήσωνται, εἰ μὴ ὅταν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῇ. ¹⁰ καὶ τὸν λόγον ἐκράτησαν πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς συζητοῦντες τί ἐστιν τὸ ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι. ¹¹ καὶ ἐπηρώτων αὐτὸν, λέγοντες· Οτι λέγουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον; ¹² ὁ δὲ ἔφη αὐτοῖς· Ἠλίας μὲν ἐλθὼν πρῶτον ἀποκαθιστάνει πάντα, καὶ πῶς γέγραπται ἐπὶ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἵνα πολλὰ πάθῃ καὶ ἐξουδενηθῇ; ¹³ ἀλλὰ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι καὶ Ἠλίας ἐλήλυθεν, καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ ὅσα ἤθελον, καθὼς γέγραπται ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν.	²⁸ Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τοὺς λόγους τούτους ὡσεὶ ἡμέραι ὀκτὼ καὶ παραλαβὼν Πέτρον καὶ Ἰωάννην καὶ Ἰάκωβον ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος προσεύξασθαι. ²⁹ καὶ ἐγένετο* ἐν τῷ προσεύχεσθαι αὐτὸν τὸ εἶδος τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἕτερον, καὶ ὁ ἱματισμὸς αὐτοῦ λευκὸς, ἐξαστράπτων. ³⁰ καὶ ἰδοὺ, ἄνδρες δύο συνελάλουν* αὐτῷ,* οἵτινες ἦσαν Μωϋσῆς καὶ Ἠλίας, ³¹ οἳ ὀφθέντες ἐν δόξῃ ἔλεγον τὴν ἔξοδον αὐτοῦ ἣν ἤμελλεν πληροῦν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ. ³² ὁ δὲ Πέτρος καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ ἦσαν βεβαρημένοι ὕπνῳ· διαγρηγορήσαντες δὲ εἶδον τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς δύο ἄνδρας τοὺς συνεστῶτας αὐτῷ. ³³ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ διαχωρίζεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἀπ᾿ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν ὁ Πέτρος πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν· Ἐπιστάτα, καλόν ἐστιν ἡμᾶς ὧδε εἶναι, καὶ ποιήσωμεν σκηνὰς τρεῖς, μίαν σοὶ καὶ μίαν Μωϋσεῖ καὶ μίαν Ἠλίᾳ, μὴ εἰδὼς ὃ λέγει. ³⁴ ταῦτα δὲ αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ἐγένετο νεφέλη καὶ ἐπεσκίαζεν αὐτούς· ἐφοβήθησαν* δὲ ἐν τῷ εἰσελθεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν νεφέλην. ³⁵ καὶ φωνὴ ἐγένετο ἐκ τῆς νεφέλης, λέγουσα· Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ υἱός μου ὁ ἐκλελεγμένος· αὐτοῦ ἀκούετε. ³⁶ καὶ ἐν τῷ γενέσθαι τὴν φωνὴν εὑρέθη Ἰησοῦς μόνος. καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐσίγησαν καὶ οὐδενὶ* ἀπήγγειλαν ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις οὐδὲν ὧν ἑώρακαν.* {³⁷ Ἐγένετο δὲ τῇ ἑξῆς ἡμέρᾳ κατελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄρους συνήντησεν αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς.}

¹ And after six days Jesus takes along Peter and James and John his brother, and he bore them up onto a high mountain by themselves. ² And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, but his clothes became* white as light. ³ And behold, Moses and Elijah* were seen by them, talking* with him.* ⁴ But Peter answered and said to Jesus: Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I shall make here three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. ⁵ While he was still talking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud, saying: This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him. ⁶ And when the disciples heard they fell upon their faces and were* very afraid.* ⁷ And Jesus came toward them and touched them and said: Arise and do not fear. ⁸ But, lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone. ⁹ And when they descended from the mountain Jesus ordered them, saying: Say the vision* to no* one* until the son of man has been raised from the dead. ¹⁰ And the disciples asked him, saying: Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to come first? ¹¹ And he answered and said: Elijah is coming and will restore all things. ¹² And I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but rather they did unto him as many things as they willed; so too the son of man is going to suffer by them. ¹³ Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them concerning John the baptist.	² And after six days Jesus takes along Peter and James and John, and he bore them up onto a high mountain by themselves, alone. And he was transfigured before them, ³ and his clothes became* radiant, extremely white, as no launderer upon the earth can launder them. ⁴ And Elijah with Moses* were seen by them, and they were talking* to Jesus.* ⁵ And Peter answered and says to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. ⁶ For he did not know how to answer, for they had become afraid.* ⁷ And there was a cloud overshadowing them, and there was a voice from the cloud: This is my beloved son; listen to him. ⁸ And all of a sudden, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them. ⁹ And when they descended from the mountain he commanded them to relate what they had seen* to no* one* except when the son of man had resurrected from the dead. ¹⁰ And they seized upon the word, seeking together with one another what the resurrection from the dead is. ¹¹ And they asked him, saying: Why do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to come first? ¹² And he spoke to them: Elijah, coming first, restores all things, and how is it written of the son of man that he will suffer many things and be treated as nothing? ¹³ But I say to you that Elijah has even come, and they did to him as many things as they were willing, just as it has been written of him.	²⁸ But it happened after these words, about eight days, that he also, having taken along Peter and John and James, ascended onto the mountain to pray. ²⁹ And in his praying the image of his face became* different, and his clothing white, gleaming. ³⁰ And behold, two men were talking* to him;* these were Moses and Elijah,* ³¹ who, being seen in glory, were speaking of his departure, which he was going to fulfill in Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and those with him had become heavy with sleep. But, when they were completely awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. ³³ And it happened that, in their leaving him, Peter said toward Jesus: Sir, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah, not knowing what to say. ³⁴ But while he was saying these things there was a cloud, and it overshadowed them; and they were* afraid* as they went into the cloud. ³⁵ and there was a voice from the cloud, saying: This is my elect son; listen to him. ³⁶ And when the voice happened Jesus was found alone. And they themselves kept silent and announced nothing* of the things they had seen* to anyone* in those days. {³⁷ But it happened on the following day, when they were coming down away from the mountain, that a great crowd met him.}
