45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the lord put in charge of his household, to give them their food on time? 46 Blessed is that servant whom the lord, when he comes, finds so doing. 47 Amen, I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart: My lord is taking his time, 49 and should begin to strike his fellow servants, and should eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the lord of that slave will come on a day on which he does not suppose and at an hour which he does not know, 51 and will cut him apart, and will place his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth there. |
41 But Peter said: Lord, are you saying this parable toward us or also toward all? 42 And the Lord said: Who then is the faithful steward, the wise one, whom the lord will put in charge of his service, to give their rationing on time? 43 Blessed is that servant whom the lord, when he comes, finds so doing. 44 Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45 But if that servant should say in his heart: My lord is taking his time coming, and should begin to strike the male and female slaves, to eat and to drink and to get drunk, 46 the lord of that slave will come on a day on which he does not suppose and at an hour which he does not know, and will cut him apart, and will place his portion with the faithless. 47 And that servant who knew the will of his lord and did not make ready or do his will shall receive many lashes. 48 But the one who did not know, and did deeds worthy of flogging, shall receive few lashes. And to each to whom much has been given, from him much will be sought, and, to whom much was entrusted, they will ask him all the more. |
