{27.1 But when it was early all the chief priests* and the elders of the people reached a decision against Jesus,* to put him to death; 2 and they bound him and led him away* and delivered him over to Pilate, the leader.} 59 And the high priests and the whole sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus so as to put him to death, 60 and they did not find any, though many false testifiers had come forward. But finally two came forward and 61 said: This man spoke: I can destroy the temple of God and during three days build it. 62 And the high priest stood up and said to him: Do you answer nothing? What are these men testifying against you? 63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him: I charge you by oath against the living God to say* to us* if you are the Christ the son of God. 64 Jesus says to him: You said* it; but I say to you, from this moment you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming upon the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest tore his tunics, saying: He blasphemed. What need have we still of testifiers? Behold, now you heard the blasphemy. 66 How does it seem to you? And they answered and said: He is guilty unto death. |
{15.1 And very early the chief priests* with the elders and scribes and the whole sanhedrin, having made a decision, bound and bore Jesus* away* and delivered him over to Pilate.} 55 And the high priests and the whole sanhedrin were seeking testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death, and they did not find any. 56 For many were testifying falsely against him, and their testimonies were not the same. 57 And some stood up and were testifying falsely against him, saying: 58 We heard him saying: I will destroy this temple made by hands and during three days build another not made by hands. 59 And not even so was their testimony the same. 60 And the high priest stood up in the middle and asked Jesus, saying: Do you not answer anything? What are these men testifying against you? 61 But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and says to him: Are you the Christ the son of the blessed one? 62 But Jesus said: I am,* and you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming with the clouds of heaven. 63 But the high priest tore his cloaks and says: What need have we still of testifiers? 64 You heard the blasphemy. How does it appear to you? And they all condemned him to be guilty unto death. |
66 And as it became day the eldership of the people came together, both chief priests* and scribes, and they led him away* into their sanhedrin, 67 saying: If you are the Christ, say* it to us.* But he said to them: If I say it to you you will not have faith in me; 68 but if I asked you you would not answer. 69 But from now on the son of man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God. 70 But all said: Are you therefore the son of God? And he said toward them: You say* that I am.* 71 But they said: What need have we still of testimony? For we ourselves heard it from his own mouth. |

19 The high priest
therefore asked Jesus concerning his disciples and
concerning his teaching.
20 Jesus
answered him: I have spoken frankly to the world;
I always taught in the synagogue and
in the temple, where all the Jews come together,
and I spoke nothing in secret.
21 Why are you asking me? Ask those who
heard what I spoke to them; behold, these men
know what I said.
22 And when he had said these things one of
the officers standing by gave Jesus a
slap, saying: Do you thus answer the high priest?
23 Jesus answered him: If I spoke evilly,
testify concerning the evil; but if I spoke well,
why do you smite me?
24 Annas therefore sent him bound toward
Caiaphas the high priest.
