46 While he was still speaking to the crowds,* behold, his mother and brothers were standing outside seeking to speak to him. 47 But someone said to him: Behold, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak to you.* 48 But he answered and said to the one saying this to him: Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? 49 And he stretched out his hand over his disciples and said: Behold, my mother and my brothers, 50 for whoever does* the will of my father in the heavens is himself my brother and sister and mother. |
20 And he comes into the house; and the crowd comes with him again, so that they could not even eat bread. 21 And, when those about him heard, they went out to seize him, for they were saying that he was beside himself. [....] 31 And his mother and his brothers come, and standing outside they sent to him,* calling him. 32 And a crowd* sat around him, and they say to him: Behold, your mother and your brothers and your sisters seek you* outside. 33 And he answered and says to them: Who is my mother and my brothers? 34 And he looked about at those sitting around him in a circle and says: Behold, my mother and my brothers, 35 for whoever does* the will of God, this is my brother and sister and mother. |
19 But his mother and brothers arrived to him* and they could not reach him on account of the crowd.* 20 But it was announced to him: Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see you.* 21 But he answered and said toward them: My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do* it. |

1 I am the true vine, and my father is the
husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit,
he takes it, and every branch that bears fruit, he cleans it so that it might
bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean on account of the word
which I have spoken to you.
4 Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch
cannot bear fruit from itself unless it remains on the vine, so you cannot
unless you remain in me.
5 I am the vine, you the branches. He who remains
in me and I in him, this one bears much fruit, since apart from me you can do
nothing.
6 If anyone should not remain in me, he is cast
outside as a branch and dries up, and they gather them and cast them into the
fire and they are burned.
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask whatever you wish and it will happen for you.
8 In this is my father glorified, that you bear
much fruit and become disciples for me.
9 Just as the father has loved me, I also have
loved you. Remain in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain
in my love, just as I have kept the commandments of my father and remain in
his love.
11 These things I have spoken to you so that my
joy might be in you and your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, that you love one
another just as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that one
puts his soul down on behalf of his friends.
14 You are my
friends if you do
the things I command you. 15 I no longer say
you are slaves, since the slave does not realize what his lord is doing;
but I have said that you are friends, since all things that I have heard
from the father I have made known to you.
16 You did not elect me, but rather I elected
you and placed you so that you might get on and bear fruit and your fruit
might remain, so that whatever you might ask the father in my name he might
give you.
17 These things I command you, that you love
one another.
