21 And he said to them: A lamp does not come to be placed under the peck-basket* or under the bed, does it? Is it not to be placed upon the lampstand?* 22 For there is nothing hidden except to be made apparent, nor has anything been made secret but to make an appearance. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. 24 And he said to them: Watch what you hear. With what measure you measure it will be measured out to you, and it will be added to you. 25 For he who has, to him it shall be given. And he who does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. |
16 But no one after kindling a lamp hides it with a vessel or places it underneath a bed, but rather places it upon a lampstand, so that those who journey in might look at the light. 17 For it is not hidden which will not become apparent, nor secret which will not be made known and make an appearance. 18a Watch therefore how you hear: {6.38b ...for by what measure you measure it will be measured back out to you.} 18b For he who has, to him it shall be given. And he who does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him. {11.33 No one after kindling a lamp places it into a crypt, nor under the peck-basket,* but rather upon the lampstand,* so that those who journey in might look at the light.} |
