And it was written in Hebrew, Roman, and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews said therefore to Pilate: Do not write: The king of the Jews, but that he said: I am king of the Jews. 22 Pilate answered: What I have written I have written. 23 The soldiers therefore when they crucified Jesus took his clothing and made four divisions, to each soldier a division, as well as the tunic. But the tunic was seamless, from the upper part through the whole. 24 They said therefore toward each other: Let us not rend it, but use a lot for it to decide whose it will be, so that the scripture might be fulfilled which says: They divided my clothes among them and cast a lot upon my clothing. Therefore the soldiers did these things.
