20 But after it became evening he reclined with the twelve. 21 And while they were eating he said: Amen, I say to you that one from among you is going to deliver me up. 22 And they were very sorrowful and began* to say to him, each one: It is surely not I, is it, Lord? 23 But he answered and said: He who dipped his hand* with me in the bowl, this man will deliver me up.* 24 The son of man is getting along just as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man through whom the son of man is delivered up. It would have been good for that man had he not been born. 25 But Judas, the one delivering him up, said: It is surely not I, is it, rabbi? He says to him: You said it. |
17 And after it became evening he comes with the twelve. 18 And while they were reclining and eating Jesus said: Amen, I say to you that one from among you is going to deliver me up, the one eating with me. 19 They began* to sorrow and to say to him, one by one: It is not I, is it? 20 But he said to them: It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me into the bowl, 21 because the son of man is getting along just as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man through whom the son of man is delivered up. It would have been good for that man had he not been born. |
{14 And when it became the hour he reposed, and the apostles with him.} 21 Yet behold, the hand* of the one delivering me up* is with me upon the table, 22 because the son of man is journeying according to what has been determined, yet woe to that man through whom he is delivered up. 23 And they began to seek out toward each other who it might be from among them who was about to do this. |

21 After Jesus said
these things he was troubled in spirit and testified and said: Amen,
amen, I say to you that one from among you is going to
deliver me up.
22 The disciples looked at each other,
confused concerning of whom he was saying this.
23 There was reclining on the chest of Jesus
one from among his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simon Peter therefore motions to this
man to inquire who it was concerning whom he was saying this.
25 He, therefore,
reposing thus upon the breast of Jesus,
says to him: Lord, who is it?
26 Jesus answers: It is he for whom I will
dip the sop and give it to him.
He dipped, therefore,
the sop and takes it and gives it to Judas
of Simon Iscariot.
27 And after the sop
Satan then went
into him. Jesus therefore says to him:
What you are doing do quickly.
28 But none of those who were
reclining
knew for what purpose he had said this to him.
29 For some supposed, since Judah
had the money cask, that Jesus was saying to him: Buy the things
of which we have need for the feast, or else so as to give something
to the poor.
30 After taking the sop, therefore,
he went out straightway; and it was night.
