§ The title of the prayer of Simeon, the nunc dimittis, comes from the first two words of its translation in the Latin Vulgate. The entire poem runs as follows in the Latin (Luke 2.29-32):

Nunc dimittis servum tuum, domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace,
quia viderunt oculi mei salutare tuum,
quod parasti ante faciem omnium populorum,
lumen ad revelationem gentium, et gloriam plebis tuae Israel.
